Social Entrepreneurs in New Mexico

Oct 28, 2017

We here at Impact Accelerators love working with social entrepreneurs and nonprofits all over our great country, particularly here in the west. To this end we will be highlighting socially impactful entities all over the western U.S. for the next several months. Today we offer up some great change makers from our friends in New Mexico. See below for some cool organizations doing cool things.

Initially motivated to go green by the family patriarch’s development of a disease often associated with exposure to toxic chemicals, Dapwood Furniture Co. produces eco-friendly furniture. They are committed to a long-list of environmentally friendly practices including recycling, upcycling, composting, resource recovery, the use of sustainably farmed wood, and the use of green wood finishes. If you are looking for some high quality furniture in the Albuquerque area be sure to give them a call. Or, just take a look at their website here.

A certified B Corporation, Meow Wolf is an arts collective that creates explorable, immersive art installations filled with technology and fantastic environments. They have developed temporary installation projects in Albuquerque, Chicago, Boulder, New York, and San Antonio, and in 2016 opened their first permanent exhibition, The House of Eternal Return, in Santa Fe. In addition to creating cutting edge art, they are committed to providing living wages for employees, full time jobs for artists, and opportunities for those who are hard to employee. They also regularly bring art and creativity to communities where it is often in short supply, and are committed to using environmentally friendly material when building their incredible pieces.
